Meet the Founder
Suzette Michelle
Founder of Survivor Speaks™ | 18-Year Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Survivor & Advocate
Survivor Speaks™ was born from lived experience. After being diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer in March 2008, Suzette transformed survival into a mission to educate, advocate and help others heal.
What began as one woman’s journey has grown into an ecosystem centered on survivorship, healing, storytelling and impact — because surviving the diagnosis was only the beginning.
Turning lived experience into advocacy, education and impact.
The Story Behind the Image
Ten years before this photograph was taken, Survivor Speaks™ began collecting neckties in shades of pink and blue with a vision she couldn’t yet fully define. The ties waited for a decade. In November 2023, as she completed one of the final goals on a bucket list created after surviving triple-negative breast cancer, that vision became a custom fashion concept — with her then-15-year-old daughter Eboni, just five months old at the time of Suzette’s diagnosis, serving as creative director.
Years later, those pink-and-blue ties carry an unexpected relevance. As Survivor Speaks™ develops Breaking an Overlooked Stigma™ — expanding breast cancer awareness to include men and families — the pairing of colors has become a meaningful connection discovered long after the collection began.
“You are a breast cancer survivor every day.”

Mission & Impact
Survivor Speaks™ is a survivor-led advocacy brand working to widen the breast cancer conversation — for women, for men, and for the families beside them. Three pillars guide every campaign, collaboration and piece of content we create.
Supporting those newly diagnosed, currently navigating treatment and living in survivorship—while elevating lived experiences and the voices of those affected by breast cancer.
Expanding breast cancer awareness through education, early-detection conversations and inclusive storytelling for women, men and families.
Collaborating with brands, nonprofits, healthcare organizations and media to turn shared values into meaningful community impact.
Featured Advocacy Initiative
Male Breast Cancer EducationMental HealthHealingCommunity Awareness
October turns the world pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month—but an important population is frequently missing from the conversation: men.
Male Breast Cancer Deserves a Place in the Conversation.
Men Get Breast Cancer Too. Yet their stories are too often missing from the breast cancer conversation.
Breaking an Overlooked Stigma™ is a permanent, year-round Survivor Speaks™ advocacy initiative — amplified during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but never limited to October. It is dedicated to visibility, education, mental health and healing, and community awareness around male breast cancer.
Through inclusive storytelling, survivor conversations, educational content and mission-driven partnerships, we help create space for men affected by the disease to be seen, heard and supported.
Because awareness should include him, too.
Help us change the conversation.

The Book
The survivorship story behind the advocacy.
Surviving Strong is Suzette’s first-person account of a triple-negative breast cancer diagnosis and the years of faith, family and resilience that followed — the lived experience that Survivor Speaks™ was built on.
It is where the advocacy begins: an honest survivor narrative that gives partners, readers and newly diagnosed families a real look at what survivorship asks of a person long after treatment ends.
